WPC is an engineered composite material produced by blending thermo-plastic polymers (such as PE, PP, or PVC) with organic wood flour fibers (derived from agricultural and industrial by-products like sawdust, wood chips, and straw) in ratios typically exceeding 50% fiber content. Under high heat and compression extrusion processes, this mixture forms a solid profile. Unlike traditional timber, WPC does not require chemical treatments, resists insect attack, does not splinter, and does not require sealing or staining, resulting in much lower long-term maintenance costs.
Co-extrusion represents the second generation of WPC decking. During extrusion, a highly durable 360-degree polymer shell is fused around the composite core. This outer shield features enhanced UV-blockers and scratch-resistant properties.
